Wow…it has been FAR too long since we all got to sit down and relax, have a drink and just rap with eachother. Miss us? Thankfully we had The Shallow End holding it down while we were away being too cool for school. So lets chat…about you. It’s not really a problem just an inconvenience ya know? I mean…you’re kind of killing yourself. No no, this isn’t an intervention, consider it a friendly chat. We’re friends right? BFF’s!? I love you.……too soon?

Ok whatever, on to it! I come to you today to talk to you about a smoking alternative that, actually kind of kicks ass. It’s called the E-Cigarette or Electronic Cigarette. I prefer to call it the iCig because, lets face it, if it has an I in front of it these days its automatically awesome. Call me iMike from now on. Anyway, I myself had smoked cigarettes for about 13 years! I’m 26 right now…so do the math! Ridiculous right? I decided that the day had come to stop…but how!? There’s the patch, gum, hypnosis, cold turkey, or just taking myself out…none of which sounded very appealing to me. About 2 months before this decision of mine a friend of mine called me up to tell me about this eCig he just bought. You must understand that this friend of mine tries to sell me on just about everything he can come up with, and I love him for it. I thought it about it, but the upfront cost was a bit steep and I just didn’t know if I really wanted to invest in something like that. Hearing that he had quit smoking was a huge help for my push to eventually purchase one of these things. So I decided to do it.

Now there are stands in the malls that sell them, and they look like cigarettes and whatever, but to be honest they are pieces of shit. Dont waste your money. If you are going to do this, do it right. I purchased one called the VP-1. The thing looks like a gun silencer attached to a cigarette tip. Now you have to understand I went into this with very low expectations. Again I had smoked for such a long time and thought I was kind of done for as far as quitting goes. I received my VP1 unit on a Thursday. It came with 2 atomizers, 2 batteries, the main unit, and I ordered 2 bottles of nicotine juice to get started. I was going to make a cool little video of this thing for you but I’m kind of sick, sound like shit and don’t feel like it. Luckily we have the youtubes and the good men over at Vapor Talk

So i’ll very quickly go through the rest of my story because I’m droning on. I got the thing on a Thursday with all the goodies (well most but that’s another story). 2 days later I had completely quit smoking. 2 F**KING DAYS! I haven’t smoked a cigarette in almost 2 weeks now. And let me clarify, all this thing is is a vaporizer. There is NO combustion what-so-ever with this. I will not sit here and tell you that inhaling nicotine is safe, because it isn’t, but being that there is no combustion, there is no carbon monoxide…which means there is no lung issues..its just vapor. A supreme court judge ruling last week made it so the FDA has no authority over the import of these things…so Big Tobacco can go scratch. I can taste things now, I can smell things (well I could until this cold)…it’s really awesome. So if you are looking for a way to quit, I highly recommend this thing.
